Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS)

The Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) is a government initiative announced in the Budget 2024-25, aiming to provide internships in India's top 500 companies to one crore youth over five years.

Implementation and Statistics

  • The scheme's pilot project was launched by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs in October 2024, targeting 1.25 lakh internship opportunities in one year.

Second Round Details

  • As of July 17, 2025, Overall, a total of 1.53 lakh offers have been made, of which 50,500 were accepted.
  • Of those who have accepted, 8,700 or about 6% have so far joined their respective companies as interns.

This scheme is designed to significantly boost employment opportunities among the youth by placing them in top-tier companies for practical experience.
