  • Themes Covered: The indices span four broad themes: 
    • Economy
    • Development
    • Governance

Role of NITI Aayog

  • The Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office (DMEO) of NITI Aayog acts as the knowledge partner and central coordinator.

Indices Under Review

  • Democracy Index
  • Network Readiness Index (NRI)
  • Global Hunger Index (GHI)
  • Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI)

Responsibility of Nodal Ministries

  • 17 nodal ministries are assigned specific indices.
  • Tasks include: 
    1. Conducting a thorough review of index methodologies.
    2. Engaging with international bodies for data accuracy.
    3. Ensuring the use of the most recent official Indian data.
    4. Identifying performance gaps and implementing corrective measures.
