Good Governance Week Initiative

  • Good Governance Week is observed annually around December 25, in honor of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
  • The initiative aims to transition from a commemorative event to an action-oriented governance effort.
  • Focuses on effective public service delivery and responsive grievance redressal.

Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore Campaign

  • Places district administrations at the forefront of grievance redressal and public service delivery.
  • District collectors will organize camps at tehsil, block, and panchayat levels for direct interaction and grievance resolution.

Campaign Phases

The campaign is implemented in two phases:

  • Preparatory Phase (December 11-18):
    • District data on grievance redressal and service delivery initiatives is uploaded to a campaign portal.
    • 2,11,098 grievances redressed through state portals; 21,71,179 service delivery applications disposed of.
    • 330 workshops and grievance redressal camps organized.
    • 137 good governance practices and 21 success stories identified.
  • Implementation Phase (December 19-25):
    • Daily progress reporting on grievances resolution, service applications, and governance practices.

Tools and Documentation

  • Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS): Enables citizens to file grievances online.
  • Documentation of good governance practices for wider dissemination.

Progress and Outcomes

  • Previous editions saw the disposal of over 18 lakh grievances and nearly 3 crore service delivery applications.
  • Over a thousand good governance practices and several hundred success stories documented.

Workshops and Discussions

  • District-level workshops on December 23 to discuss local innovations and governance practices.
  • Involves presentations, discussions, and Q&A sessions with citizens, academics, and officials.

Future Direction

Secretary Rachna Shah emphasized mission-oriented approach for district administrations, with a call for measurable outcomes and sustained engagement to ensure tangible citizen benefits.
