India's Reconstruction Package for Cyclone Ditwah-hit Sri Lanka
In response to the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka, India has announced a significant reconstruction package. The announcement was made by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, who visited Sri Lanka as Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Special Envoy.

Implementation Efforts
Jaishankar stressed the importance of a swift and efficient coordination mechanism to deliver the assistance. A 120-foot dual carriageway Bailey Bridge in Kilinochchi District was inaugurated as part of the reconstruction efforts, highlighting the priority of restoring connectivity.
Operation Sagar Bandhu
- Relief Delivered: Over 1100 tonnes of relief material, which included dry rations, tents, tarpaulins, hygiene kits, clothing, and water purification kits.
- Medical Assistance: 14.5 tons of medicines and medical equipment were supplied. An 80-member National Disaster Response Force conducted rescue operations with additional support from the Indian Army's field hospital.
- Logistical Support: Aircraft carrier INS Vikrant and ship INS Udayagiri facilitated the delivery of relief materials. Mi-17 helicopters were deployed for over two weeks in relief efforts.
