The launch of NISAR — a joint Earth observation satellite developed by NASA and ISRO — is scheduled for July 30 at 5:40 pm from Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

Key Features of NISAR

  • Launched via GSLV-F16 into a 734 km sun synchronous orbit.
  • Scans the globe every 12 days, providing detailed images of Earth's surface.
  • First to observe with two frequencies: 
    • NASA's L-band
    • ISRO's S-band
  • Weighs 2,392 kg and captures changes as small as one centimeter.
  • Functions under all weather conditions, day and night.
