    LVM3-M5 Launch

    ISRO's heavyweight rocket, 'Bahubali', successfully launched from Sriharikota, carrying India’s heaviest satellite to date, weighing 4,410 kg, into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO).  The satellite, named CMS-03, is a multi-band communication satellite designed to provide services across a wide oceanic region, including the Indian landmass.

    Mission Details

    • LVM3-M5 is the new heavy-lift launch vehicle of ISRO, capable of placing 4,000 kg spacecraft into GTO.
    • The rocket features a three-stage launch system with: 
      1. Two solid motor strap-ons (S200)
      2. A liquid propellant core stage (L110)
      3. A cryogenic stage (C25)
    • The LVM3-M5 is the fifth operational flight and builds upon fully indigenized technologies.

    Previous Achievements

    ISRO previously launched its heaviest communication satellite, GSAT-11, weighing 5,854 kg, on December 5, 2018, from French Guiana.
