Rice Export Norms Eased for Select European Nations

Certain Rice Exports

  • The requirement for a certificate of inspection from the Export Inspection Council (EIC) or Export Inspection Agencies (EIAs) is applied to rice exports to specific countries: EU, UK, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland.
  • Exports to other European countries are exempt from this requirement for a duration of six months, as per the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).

Export Policy Revision for Animal Products

  • The policy for exporting feathers, skins, and other parts is revised to align with EU and UK regulations.
  • This includes the provision for issuing a Veterinary Health Certificate when required by the importing country.

Minimum Export Price for Natural Honey

  • The DGFT has extended the $1,400 per tonne minimum export price (MEP) on natural honey for an additional nine months, lasting until December this year.

Import Procedure for Calcined Petroleum Coke

  • A detailed procedure has been outlined for the imports of calcined petroleum coke used in the aluminium industry.
  • The import quantity will be allocated based on the recommendations of an Exim facilitation committee.
