Cabinet approves continuation of APY  till 2030-31.

About APY:

  • Launch: 9th May, 2015
  • Objective:  To create a universal social security system for all, especially the poor, under-privileged and workers in the unorganized sector.
  • Eligibility: Any citizen of India between the age of 18 and 40 who are not income tax payers.
  • Type: Central Sector Scheme
  • Scheme Features: APY offers a guaranteed minimum pension of Rs.1,000 to Rs.5,000 per month starting at age 60, based on contributions.
  • Progress: Over 8.66 crore subscribers have been enrolled, making APY a cornerstone of India’s inclusive social security framework.

The Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) has completed 11 years since its launch under the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign.

About Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY)

  • Launch: 22nd January 2015 under Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.
  • Objective: Promote welfare of the girl child and create a long-term savings corpus for education and future needs.
  • Key features
    • Eligibility: Girl child below 10 years;
    • Only one SSY account is permitted per girl child, and a family can open accounts for a maximum of two girl children.
    • Annual deposit of ₹250–₹1.5 lakh for 15 years.
    • Account operated by guardian till 18 years.
    • Maturity & withdrawal: Matures after 21 years; up to 50% withdrawal for education after 18 years is allowed.

 About Indira Gandhi Peace Prize

  • Instituted in 1985 and administered by the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust.

    • Promoting international peace and disarmament, racial equality, and goodwill and harmony among nations.

The Union Cabinet approved the equity support of Rs.5,000 crore to the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI).

About SIDBI

  • Set up in 1990 as per the provisions of Small Industries Development Bank of India Act, 1989.
  • Mandate: Acts as the principal financial institution for the promotion, financing and development of the MSME sector.
  • Serves as a nodal agency for various MSME-focused schemes 

India’s first ‘Made in India’ C-295 aircraft will roll out before September 2026.

About C-295 aircraft 

  • It is Medium-range, twin-engine turboprop tactical transport aircraft.
