Economic Growth
The economy of Bihar has witnessed significant growth, increasing from Rs 2.47 lakh crore in 2011-12 to Rs 8.54 lakh crore in 2023-24.
Investments
- The State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) received 3,752 proposals totaling Rs 75,293 crore.
- Investment in 769 units amounted to Rs 8,464 crore.
- By September 2024, the food processing sector attracted investments worth Rs 3,517 crore from 353 units.
- The proposed investment for ethanol production is Rs 30,747 crore, accounting for 41% of total investment proposals.
Employment and Entrepreneurship
- The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) invited applications for 4,29,015 posts in 2023-24.
- The government spent Rs 200.47 crore to support 40,099 entrepreneurs.
- Seed money of Rs 15 crore was provided to 1,706 startups.
Tourism and Agriculture
- Tourist inflow in 2023 reached 8.21 crore.
- Between 2018-19 and 2022-23:
- Milk production increased by 27.3%.
- Egg production rose by 85%.
Infrastructure Development
- Construction of four expressways:
- Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata Expressway
- Gorakhpur-Siligurhi Expressway
- Patna-Purnia Expressway
- Raxaul-Haldia Expressway
Social Indicators
Life expectancy improved from 65.8 years in 2006-10 to 69.5 years in 2016-20.
