Physical features
- Location: off the coast of West Africa in the Atlantic ocean.
- Divided into the Barlavento (Windward) group to the north and the Sotavento (Leeward) group to the south.
- Largest port: Mindelo, on São Vicente.
Geographical features
- It is a small archipelago (volcanic origin)
- Terrain: Varies from the geologically older, flatter islands in the east and the newer, more mountainous islands in the west.
- Climate: Hot temperatures throughout the year, with very little rainfall and sea breezes from the Atlantic.
